The Lantern House
A grade 2 listed building in the Bermondsey Street conservation area has been completely destroyed by fire. Employing Dransfield Owens Da Silva, experts on restoration, a new building was designed as a Rector of what had been lost. The building uses secondhand London stock brick and the reclaimed Welsh slate roof. The interiors were designed as Open Plan loft apartments and live work units which was sold as shells, with two ground floor retail units. The construction took place over the only part of the building remaining, the cafe remained in place while the new building was constructed over it.
